Photos of Alabaster #14 available

After some persistence, I have re-shot and uploaded photos of Alabaster #14. I feel like a proud parent taking pictures of their first child, even though this is far from my first sculpture. Not only are there, coincidentally, 14 pictures of this sculpture (2 of which I haven't even put onto my website because they are very similar to two other pictures), but I also have dozens of in-progress pictures (to be uploaded in the next few days).

This is the first sculpture of which I took several in-progress pictures. Now that I'm more comfortable with taking pictures after significant (and sometimes less significant) sculpting sessions, I plan to post in-progress pictures of future sculptures on a more regular basis. I have been hesitant to do this in the past because I was concerned about the impact of comments/suggestions on the direction my sculptures would take. But I think I've developed my aesthetic (and am continuing to do so) to the point where I am in a better position to decide which suggestions to consider.

#14 is also a huge milestone in the development of my aesthetic. I feel as though I have been working towards it over the past few years, as I constantly pushed myself out of my comfort zone. You can see in some of the photos, particularly the detail shots, how thin the stone is at points. It was scary at times while I was carving out these parts of the sculpture, and even more so when I was completing the sanding and polishing work because I had to be both delicate and forceful with the stone. There was also real risk of me being cut by the sharpness of the edges... and I can't say I know how, at this time, how I'll be able to safely pack this sculpture for transport when it finds a new home. But these obstacles are well worth the outcome---I absolutely adore #14!
