I'm still pushing myself past my comfort zone, and it's a slow and scary process.
I'm very excited about the sculpture I'm working on right now. This morning, I had a breakthrough vision for how to develop it past the predictable beauty into something more. It's these sudden moments of inspiration which make my slow process worthwhile. Although I could complete more sculptures if I increased my use of power-tools, I always worry that will result in too sudden of a change in the sculpture. Unlike clay, there is no "undo" option for stone. The "slow and steady" method may drive me mad sometimes, but gives me the time necessary to properly mature a sculpture.
