Frequently Asked Questions

Sculptures

There is no alabaster #9 sculpture. My good friend, who purchased #6, started referring to it as #9. When we finally realized the mis-numbering, the reference had stuck. Rather than adding to the confusion, I have simply skipped over 9.

No, but I am active in many other online communities, including Twitter (please visit my Networking page for a full list). I also have a Facebook Page if you would like to become a fan and show your support.

I have experimented with different media for as long as I can remember. Two-dimensional media, such as painting and photography, did not give my art the feeling of depth I needed. Pottery was closer to what I wanted, but the malleability was incompatible with my nature. Just before beginning my studies in university, I was introduced to stone sculpture and it quickly became my medium of choice.

Each piece varies, both in actual hours sculpted and the span of time through which it developed. On average, I work on a sculpture for 30 hours and across 4 months. Some sculptures, such as Soapstone #14 and Alabaster #6, took over 60 hours to complete; Soapstone #15 was started in 2003 and completed in 2006.

Most of my work is done with hand-chisels and rifflers (specialized files for stone-carving). Deep excavations which can't be refined by them involve the use of powered tools.

Currently, all of my work is done in soapstone and alabaster. More recently, I have only been acquiring alabaster because I am fascinated by the layers of colour and the possibilities of translucency it offers.

Damaged Sculptures
Please contact me immediately if you receive a damaged sculpture.
Canada Post allows damage reports to be filed within 90 days of shipping domestically and FedEx allows damage reports to be filed within 21 days of delivery or 15 days of invoicing, whichever is earlier.
I will file the damage report with the shipping company and reimburse your full funds for the price of the sculpture after they have been received. You may also open a claim via PayPal, who offers a complaint resolution process.

Sculptures not as expected
With purchasing artwork online, there is always a risk that the art may not be exactly as you thought it would be from the photos. You may, of course, ask for more photos and/or videos of the work to help you make your decision prior to the purchase.
If you decide to purchase a sculpture and change your mind after receiving it, you have 30 calendar days after the delivery date to request a refund.
You will be responsible for the full price of safe shipping return. The sculpture must be returned before a refund is issued.
Once I receive the returned sculpture intact, I will refund you the full price of the sculpture via PayPal, less the original price of shipping.
In the unlikely event that the sculpture is damaged upon its return, please file a damage report with your shipping company to obtain a refund. If the sculpture is damaged upon its return, no refund will be issued by me.

I currently accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex and PayPal transactions through PayPal. All financial transactions are processed through PayPal's secure servers, and prices are in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes will be charged (i.e. only GST outside of Ontario and no taxes for clients outside of Canada).

Due to the unfortunate existence of shipping/cheque scams, cheques and money orders are not accepted.

I offer a variety of shipping options/speeds via Canada Post and FedEx, from next-day delivery to standard shipping (starting from a delivery time of 1 week). All prices include insurance. After adding an item to your shopping cart, you can request a shipping quote before providing your contact and payment information. If you do not see a shipping option that fits your needs, or are outside of North America (Canada and the US) please contact me for a custom quote.

All shipping prices include insurance coverage for the price of the sculpture. Due to the way shipping prices are automatically calculated, insurance coverage for shipping and taxes is not included. Please contact me for a custom quote if you would prefer more comprehensive shipping insurance coverage.

I ship to Canada and the US via Canada Post, UPS and FedEx. Due to the size of most sculptures, these shipping companies are more than sufficient.

If you are outside of North America please contact me for shipping options, as special customs handling may be required.
